Musing Mondays (5 October)

Today’s Musing Mondays: “Last week we talked about keeping a wishlist. Why not pull out that list and show us some of the books you’ve been eyeing off?”

Well, let me see here. -loads up GoodReads- Wow! I have rather a lot more books on this list than I thought I did. I’ll just put up the really good ones, shall I?

First, the standalones. These are the books that I’ve read and loved and need to own yesterday so I can press them into the hands of other people:
Elantris, by Brandon Sanderson
The Sparrow, by Mary Doria Russell
The Manual of Detection, by Jedediah Berry

And the series, which I want for mostly the same reason but also because I’ll want to go back and read through them all whenever a new one comes out!
Thursday Next, by Jasper Fforde
Old Man’s War, by John Scalzi
A Series of Unfortunate Events, by Lemony Snicket (Right, there aren’t any new ones coming out, but they’re so cute and short and I want them!)

Oh, hey, look at that, I have a birthday coming up soon… coincidence? Probably.

The Sparrow is in my TBR pile.

I bought it after I read a glowing recommendation of it somewhere in BlogLand, as I tend to do.
Which explains the huge TBR pile and the tiny wishlist.
