Today’s Musing Mondays question is one more about book covers…
“As a follow up to last week’s question, Melody asked about when book covers do not match the story. Do you feel disappointed when the covers don’t match the story? Have you ever been completely misled by a book cover?”
I have to say that I can’t think of any books that I’ve read that had a cover significantly different from the story of the book. A quick scan of the books I own shows that most of them have covers with incidental graphics; either a stock photo or an illustration that could be any part or every part of the story.
But, assuming that I have read some novels with non-matching covers, I’d have to say that I wouldn’t care if the cover were different. The cover picture might get me to pick up the book, but it’s really the description that determines whether or not I’ll take the book home.
Have any of you had this happen?
I usually choose by back cover blurb as well. Here is mine
I just think a bad cover costs some good books part of their potential aundience.
